Price over time

Median for each calendar month, fixed-price sales only. A month needs at least 4 sales to appear. The price at the top of this page is the median of the last 90 days, not of this chart.

8 sales or more fewer than 8, read loosely

Flat since Jul, from $280 to $280.

Same club, head only

In the last 90 days, 15 of the sales we track were the clubhead alone, with no shaft or grip. Golfers buy a head alone when they already have a shaft they like. A head has no shaft and no grip, so budget for those on top.

Head-only price

$209

14 fixed-price sales

Only 1 auction on the head alone. Too few for a reliable auction price.

A used Ping G425 SFT driver head, sold on its own with no shaft or grip, sells for a median of $209 on eBay, from 14 fixed-price sales completed in the last 90 days.

25% cheaper than the complete club, $209 against $280.

How to read these numbers

Market price is the median of fixed-price sales. That is what one costs you today, and it is the number most people mean by what a club is worth.

At auction is the median of auctions. It runs lower because an auction must sell on its closing date, to whoever happens to be bidding. It is the closest thing to what lands in your account if you sell that way.

Prices are in US dollars, from completed eBay sales in the last 90 days. Listings that are not this exact club — shafts sold alone, headcovers, tour-issue collectibles, multi-club lots — are removed before anything is calculated. Read the full method.
